Scat: The 31 Card Game

Privacy Policy

Effective 17 October 2026

Scat: The 31 Card Game plays on your device and works without a connection. Your statistics from finished games, your settings, your name, and your cats can sync through your own iCloud account. The app has no ads, analytics SDKs, or separate app account.

What the app collects

The game does not send your gameplay, settings, name, or cat to us. There are no analytics, advertising, third-party SDKs, or custom crash-reporting services in the app. We operate no game server.

Connections

The game plays without a connection and works in airplane mode. Its only connection is to Apple’s iCloud, to keep your statistics, settings, name, and cats the same on your devices, and only when you are signed in to iCloud. It does not request access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or notifications. System services such as device backups and optional diagnostics are separate from gameplay.

Your statistics

When you finish a game, the app saves a short result: when the game started and finished, whether you won, which cat won if you didn’t (by its name at the table, which may be the name of a cat you made), how many players there were, whether the three-of-a-kind rule was on, and counts such as hands played, Scat calls, calls that avoided a strike, and times you reached 31. Your name, your cat, and your game in progress are not part of it.

If you are signed in to iCloud, these results, and the date of any reset, are stored in your own private iCloud database so your statistics are the same on your devices. We have no access to that database; Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to it. If you are not signed in, your statistics stay on this device.

Reset Statistics hides the games played before the reset on all your devices; the results stay in your iCloud account. To remove them, delete the app’s data from your device’s iCloud storage settings. Deleting the app removes what it saved on the device.

What the app stores, and where

The app saves its settings on your device: the number of players, the three-of-a-kind house rule, and whether you have seen How to play. Your name and cat, if you give yourself one, the cats you make to play against, and which cats are switched on are saved there too. If you are signed in to iCloud, all of these are also kept in your own iCloud account so they are the same on your other devices. We have no access to them there; Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy apply. Clearing your name, choosing Remove My Cat, or deleting a cat you made does the same on your other devices. Apart from your iCloud account, the cats you make leave the device only in a cat file you choose to share. Your statistics are saved on the device as well, and synced as described above.

It also saves one unfinished game — the cards, every move, the strikes, and the players at the table — so you can resume it. Starting a new game replaces that save; finishing the game removes it. This data may be included in device backups, depending on your backup settings.

Sharing a game

If you share a finished game as a PDF, it contains that game’s hands and the names at the table, including yours if you gave one. Anyone who receives it can read it. The service you send it through has its own privacy practices.

Sharing cats

Share Your Cats saves the cats you tick — each one’s name, look, and play style — in a file, and hands it to the share sheet; it goes only where you send it. Import Cats reads a file you pick and adds only the cats you tick. Nothing else is in the file.

What we can see

The app store provides aggregate download and sales information. Crash diagnostics may be available if you opt into sharing them through your device settings. If you email us, we receive your email address and the message and attachments you choose to send.

Children

The game has no chat, advertising, or way to contact other players. It does not ask players for personal information. A name, if you give one, is never sent to us. Apart from your own iCloud account, it leaves the device only in a game PDF you choose to share.

Gambling

There is none. Scat has no wagering, no simulated gambling, and no purchasable chips or currency of any kind. A lost hand costs a strike, as in the traditional card game.

Limits of these protections

No app, device, or online service can guarantee complete privacy, security, or protection against data loss. Device access, account security, backups, and the services you choose to use can affect what happens to your information. This policy describes the app’s practices; it is not a promise that unauthorized access or data loss is impossible. It does not limit any privacy or consumer rights you have under applicable law.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
